    The first preview of Mizu MX 27: a desktop operating system that boots on real UEFI PCs from a USB stick.

    📥 Which file do I need?

    File For
    mizu-mx27-preview.img.zip A USB stick (real computer) or QEMU
    mizu-mx27-preview.vdi.zip VirtualBox

    Unzip first.

    🚀 Run it from a USB stick

    1. Unzip mizu-mx27-preview.img.zip.
    2. Write mizu-mx27-preview.img to a stick with Rufus (pick DD image mode) or balenaEtcher. Everything on the stick is erased.
    3. In the firmware settings, turn off Secure Boot. UEFI boot must be on.
    4. Boot from the stick (F12, F11, F8 or Esc at power on, depends on the computer).
    5. Mizu Setup opens: choose a language, check the clock, type your name. Then the desktop starts.

    Everything is saved on the stick. Installing onto a hard disk comes with the next installer.

    🖥️ VirtualBox

    1. Unzip mizu-mx27-preview.vdi.zip.
    2. New machine: type Other, version Other/Unknown (64-bit), 2 GB RAM.
    3. System: tick Enable EFI.
    4. Storage: attach mizu-mx27-preview.vdi to the SATA controller.

    ✨ What's in it

    • Desktop with overlapping windows, taskbar, Start menu, tray and desktop icons
    • Apps: Files, NoteEdit, Paint, Picture, Player (MP3, WAV), Nami Explorer (web browser), Command Prompt, kUBIK
    • Task Manager, Registry Editor, Control Panel, recycle bin, startup programs
    • Colour schemes, wallpapers, live resolution change (Intel HD 2000/3000, QEMU)
    • English, Russian, Ukrainian and Greek
    • Wired Intel network and USB phone tethering, HTTP and HTTPS
    • Extras on the stick: seven games, dosfetch

    🚫 Known limits

    • Runs from the stick only (no hard disk installer yet)
    • Online updates are not set up yet
    • No Wi-Fi, no Secure Boot, no BIOS-only PCs
    • FAT32 only
    • 3D graphics only on Intel HD 2000/3000 and QEMU
